TASSC
TO THE HONORABLE ERIC HOLDER, ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE UNITED STATES: As U.S. citizens, we are appalled by revelations that U.S. government officials – including lawyers and medical personnel, elected officials and interrogators – justified and/or practiced torture. Like President Obama, we, too, want to move forward, but we know that reconciliation is impossible if there is no truthful accounting of what was done and by whom; and if there is no justice for the victims and survivors of torture by holding accountable those responsible for torture. We seek justice, not vengeance; truth, not silence. We must not allow impunity in the U.S. to have the last word, or other countries will surely have no incentive to end torture.
I support TASSC in its call to Attorney General Holder to investigate violations of U.S. and international laws against torture.
