Many survivors come with injuries and illnesses resulting from their torture. Common symptoms include head trauma, broken bones and broken teeth, fractured jaws, and internal injuries.

Treatment is necessary, of course. However, physical evaluations of the nature of the injuries become part of documentation submitted by the survivor during the political asylum process. TASSC has a great need for volunteer medical and dental professionals.
